Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a debilitating condition that can occur after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. These events may include, physical or sexual assault, military combat exposure, natural disasters, accidents, or the sudden loss of a loved one. Individuals with PTSD often experience intrusive and distressing memories, flashbacks, nightmares, and intense emotional and physical reactions. They may also avoid reminders of the trauma, experience negative changes in mood and cognition, and have heightened anxiety and hypervigilance.
